MOVED IN!! UNDER BOXES!!

We are STILL alive! We have officially moved, but we are buried in boxes and of course it takes ATT MANY days to get out and hook up internet in the country.
LOTS, of new experiences we aren't used to like Septic Tanks and Ticks, and NO doggy door (YET), just to name a few. When you throw in that the washing machine won't work after being moved and yesterday was Dalon's 11th Birthday it really gets hairy, but we are handling it well.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DALTON!! WE LOVE YOU!
Hang with us, we'll get back to normal soon.

Peace,
Kacy

SICK TO FREAKING DEATH OF MOVING!

HA! How 'bout that title? I've been "accused" a few times of saying exactly what I think. No, seriously, we are still hanging in there and we've only had one or two meltdowns. I had a brief one Thursday night (it didn't even involve tears, so I'm not really sure it counted) and Dalton had one Saturday morning and voluntarily went straight to bed and slept for 4 hours. (BLESS HIS HEART)

To say we had the MOTHER of all yard sales Friday and Saturday might be an under statement. I've never seen the likes of such on a personal household yard sale....maybe a church or a team fundraiser or something. We advertised Friday and Saturday 7 - 1 but we started Friday about 5:40 and went until 8:15 that night. We picked back up Saturday morning about 6:45 (I got smart and didn't open the garage doors until then) and finished up about 4:30 yesterday afternoon. We still had people picking things up today and even took payment plans on one bedroom suite and a drum set. HA. Do other people do owner financing at their yard sales? That's what happens when you let Jeff get involved. I'm hardcore...you pay, you leave. Not Jeff....he wants to have lasting relationships with folks and stuff. We had people that came on Friday and chatted and stuff and then just came back on Saturday to see how we were doing and if WE needed anything. NO, but thank you and take SOMETHING with you when you leave.

We had one poor fella that showed back up today to pick up his "new" sofa. We thought he would come in his truck, he said this WAS his truck and he brought some twine.

That is a rather LARGE custom upholstered Thomasville sofa tied on to the top of that Buick. Jeff was in the driveway texting the neighbors to look out the windows. They came over crying when this poor guy left.

I'm also disappointed to say that is the only picture from the entire weekend and Jeff took it with his phone. WE WERE SLAMMED packed with people here. We only had a small sampling of my clothes out in the garage. If they interested folks and were the right size, we just took them to the closet. HA. We didn't move the furniture out either, Jeff just brought people in the house. This place was wild. BUT, now it's over and it was WELL worth it. My cuz, Ashley, said I set a family yard sale $$ record. Let's just say my new kitchen is MORE than paid for. It's looking pretty empty around here.

The kiddos start school in the morning. They are excited and so are we. We didn't get to close on the new house Friday. It should be tomorrow, so tonight we were out running around trying to get last minute stuff for the week taken care of (it's gonna be a wild one). When we got home, we all had bags in our hands and Savannah got to the door (the door to the house INSIDE the garage) and there was a cotton mouth snake wrapped around the door knob. We ALL dropped our bags all over the garage and driveway and shit our pants and went screaming into the street. He slithered down the door frame and into an umbrella that was propped up on the wall by the door. Jeff drug it out into the street and he and one of our neighbors chopped him up with a shovel and an ax. That was one mad little snake! Well, he wasn't little, he was a probably just over 2 feet long. UMMM, can anyone tell me why he chose MY doorknob? THAT was NOT cool.

The trailer is on the truck, the stuff that can be moved to storage is in storage and we are waiting on signatures to load the rest of this stuff up and head out, OH and to finally rip out the kitchen wall!!! We are getting there. It just gets REAL exciting now. School starts in the morning and soccer practice starts Tuesday. Did I mention that Jeff is coaching an Under 10 Girls team AND and Under 12 Boys team? Oh yeah, I forgot that part, didn't I???? It's ok! I've been married to him for 13 years and I still don't know where he gets his crack. It must be the good stuff, though.

Peace,

Kacy

MOVING ALONG

I "ALMOST" have 7000 square feet packed up! I'm not quite there, but I'm close. I've been through and cleaned out every room but the kitchen. I've separated into trash, things that go in the yard sale and things that get moved. This process has taught me A LOT! First of all, I had a bunch of unnecessary mess! HA. Considering MY closet in this house is almost the size of my bedroom in the new house (and Jeff and I will be sharing a closet in the new house) I have to get rid of a lot of stuff. Not just clothes....EVERYWHERE. It takes a lot to decorate this much space and NOT so much to decorate the new space. THEN, you have my scary kids.

I tackled Savannah's room, closet and play area yesterday and Dalton's room, closet and play area today! (I couldn't handle them both in the same day.) It was a learning experience, FUR SURE! I learned that SavyG is EXTREMELY sentimental and Dalton is extremely NOT! She wants to keep everything and Dalton wants to get rid of everything. I pulled 5 big black garbage bags full of stuff (mainly clothes) to put in the yard sale out of Savannah's room. I only got one from Dalton's. Savannah's room was utter chaos and it ALWAYS makes me nuts, but now I realize that it ALL has meaning to her and I've committed to trying to better understand her chaos. She had things that different people have given her throughout the years and she can't get rid of those things because of the "meaning" behind the gift. It was an enlightening process. Dalton gets rid of things regularly. He and I have more of the same personality. We always have and it proved to be the case in cleaning his room out. There wasn't a lot to do because he had already done it. Now, don't get me wrong....he had dirty clothes hidden in the closet and such, and then I found something VERY interesting. He had a little booger collection going. When I saw it, I thought my eyes were playing a trick on me. Then I asked him if it was what I thought it was and he just died laughing! GROSS!!!!!!! I also found a small snack collection of corn chips and fruit snacks in his nightstand drawer. He said it was just in case he gets hungry at night! BOYS?

Jeff got the garage cleaned out and packed up today. WE ARE GETTING THERE! The underwriter had asked for an additional comp from our appraiser and we FINALLY got that today, so hopefully we can close by Friday and get moved this weekend! The kiddos start school on Monday and I would sure LOVE to be outta here by then, but we'll just see. We still have the kitchen to deal with at the new house. UMMM, that cabinet bid we were getting was INSANE!! Those are some cabinets WE WON'T BE HAVING! They should have had gold shelves for the price he quoted us today. I literally almost shit my pants (sorry about the profanity). That fellow was recommended to us by someone we've never used before and we thought the prefab way might me cheaper and faster. The guy that's been doing cabinets for us for the last year or so is coming to bid the job tomorrow. His are custom built and may take a little longer but I'll deal with no kitchen for THE PRICE RANGE......just sayin'. Who needs a kitchen anyway when you've just moved, the kids just went back to school, soccer practice and games and taekwondo??? I mean, really! It has a sink and we have an extra fridge we can throw in there.

I'm out for tonight. I've got more clothes to fold and a pool full of kids at 10:04. I'm tired! Thanks so much for your comments and well wishes. They mean the world to us! This has been a difficult process for all of us in our own ways and we are all working hard to remain positive and focused. I'm SO looking forward to having this OVER with, but I am loving everything about it and every valuable thing I have learned.

PEACE,
Kacy

Getting There

We are getting really close now. The house is looking great! The hardwood floors are done and the quarter round got put down today and caulked. My mother in law is meeting me there early in the morning to put the final coat of paint on the baseboards! Everything but the kitchen is finished....

We are meeting the kitchen consultant in the morning at 8. He has a prefab line that he custom installs. We found cabinets ourselves, but they just aren't really what I want. Considering I've spent less that$500 on my flooring (that's all we have in that gorgeous hardwood), I may splurge a little on my cabinets. It's a prefab cabinet with a custom fit....that's sort of bridging the price gap. We'll see.

I spent the day packing the house up. I got mine and Jeff's room and closet and bathroom done and the guest room where Dalton is currently sleeping and two closets in the hall way. One had a bunch of my craft stuff. The other one had all of my party dishes.

The yard sale pile is getting MIGHTY big!
See my floors!

3 crazy monkeys who had been helping their Daddy's trying to get the job done. Amazing if you remember what we started with.

I'll try to keep up over the next few days. If I can't, I'll at least take pictures and we can "catch up" next week. Savy G has a dermatologist appointment tomorrow afternoon and we have more packing to do. I think I'm gonna tackle her room next. I extended my sale to Friday and Saturday. We should be moving late Thursday and Friday. FUN FUN.
Hope all is well with everyone.
Peace,
Kacy
